Lots of people come out to support the tens of thousands of marathoners that have trained for months for the New York City Marathon. People cheer, offer high fives, play music, clap, and if you are Peter Pan, you hold out a tray of doughnut holes for the passing runners to enjoy.

Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop has been in operation in Greenpoint for 60 years, the last 20 of which under the current ownership. Each year the pastry shop marks (a little under) the half-way mark for the New York City Marathon. Throughout the day, tens of thousands of runners pass directly in front of the shop and without fail, Peter Pan is on the streets encouraging (the slowest) runners with trays of (free) freshly baked donuts.
