Haj To Staten Island: Literary World Mecca

Just off the Staten Island ferry—which happens to be free and sells beer—in a Staten Island castle on top of the hill, Penguin's Molly Barton, Lisa Weinert Consulting's Lisa, and The New Yorker's John McElwee hosted a garden party for New York's literari, native Staten Islanders, and kids. There was a fire pit, a fish pond, mint juleps, fiddles, vodka infused watermelon (that ended up on the kiddie table) and lots of kids (complaining about how bad the watermelon was).

Questlove <3 Stevie Wonder

I have no pictures of the 300 people that showed up to Avenue on Thursday after for Absolut's second Lunch Break—I was too busy dancing to shoot. Questlove played an hour long set that was almost entirely Stevie Wonder, which was incredible. On my way out they handed me a bagged lunch with an excellent PB&J and a banana. Not a bad way to spend a lunch hour.

Dance Floor > Marley Floor

The after party for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's, Ailey at the Apollo, is arguably the best three hours of dancing New York City sees every year. There are legs for days, sunglasses indoors at night, and at least a million dollars worth of designer heels in the place. The best part of this year's party were the bathrooms.
