Gender Bending, Genre Mashing, Elvis Geisha, Lady Man

Andrea Mary Marshall · 09/12/13 12:03PM

The fan is recognised as the ultimate symbol of femininity. Geishas use fans as instruments of concealment, artistry and allure. Elvis Presley, however, used fans to elevate his masculinity. In my new series of self-portraiture, I have created a gender-bending, genre-mashing character who is one-part Elvis and one-part Geisha. In a short performance video piece, I use the fan, instead of brushes, as my tool for painting my canvases, symbolising both feminine and masculine ideals.

Burning Man: SEX DRUGS SEX DRUGS SEX AND MORE DRUGS AND SEX

Victor Jeffreys II · 09/11/13 11:16AM

Burning Man is a magical place. For those of you fortunate enough to be able to take 10 days off from work and spend enough money to send (at least) a dozen Ghanaian children to primary school for a year, I encourage you to go.

Burning Man: Drugs and Feds

Justin Jernigan · 09/11/13 11:15AM

The Burning Man photo policy is understandable but insane and limits the general public's view of the burn to highly polished photos of freaks in tutus and art cars. I try to shoot the other side - friends in the same clothes they wear in the 'default world,' people who never leave camp and lots of good old fashion drug use and trouble. Heres a link to my flickr and a few aforementioned examples. All shot on Fuji disposables.

Burning Man: Bikes

Burning Man is overwhelming and impossible to describe in one post. This is the first in a series many about this past year's gathering in the middle of the desert.

Fashion Week: Day Drinking, Pretty People, and Cum Rags

Victor Jeffreys II · 09/04/13 03:25PM

Fashion Week is fun because there is day drinking, endless opportunity to dole out compliments and I get to wear cum rags and tell everyone it is couture. This week is also wonderful because it is an occasion to see the work of truly talented designers.

Greetings From Yankton, South Dakota

Forest Woodward · 08/29/13 09:00AM

Enter Yankton, South Dakota. Some call it "Skanton", others "Crankton"; our friend Rosco just calls it home. While the main attraction of Yankton is the hopes of seeing local Jim Anderson (made famous on Letterman's "Stupid Human Tricks") hopping around on one foot down at the Ice House, demonstrating his prowess as the world's fastest can crusher, our roadtrip from New York to South Dakota was instead prompted by one too many bottles of sake, an ill advised car rental, and Rosco's promise that the Old Roads music festival he was organizing would be better than any other festival I had ever photographed.

For the Love Of One Direction, Don't Shower

Victor Jeffreys II · 08/22/13 10:17AM

These four women have been sleeping on the streets outside of Rockefeller Center since Friday of last week, all for the love of One Direction. The boy band is performing tomorrow morning as part of the NBC Today Show's summer concert series but until then, these ladies are bathing themselves in bodega bathroom sinks.
