NYC: A Tourist's Perspective
Tyler Beaver · 07/31/13 02:18PM
Tourists clog up favorite public spaces, complain about and aren’t prepared for the local weather and are fascinated by the most mundane crap your town has to offer and HAVE to get a picture of the kids in front of. But sometimes it’s fun to be that twerp with a camera who gawks at big buildings, takes his sweet time getting off the subway and can’t stop commenting on just how hot it is. That was me on my recent honeymoon to New York City, all captured on 35mm film because I’m old and like old things. Like New York City.

The International Champions Cup hosted a pick up game of bubble soccer in the Lower East Side Friday of last week. ICC lured interns from League Apps, The Authorities, Thuzio, and Warby Parker (because even athletes need glasses?) to get into Bumperz and try to break each others necks and score goals. Fun way to spend a Friday afternoon.

The Judd Foundation recently dropped $23 million to renovate and open artist Donald Judd's former live/work space, 101 Spring Street, to the public. The home-turned-museum houses a small selection of Judd's personal art collection, which includes Manifest Destiny (1986) by Carl Andre, one of the most expensive stacks of bricks on the face of the Earth. Semi-private tours of the space are available three times a week.
Public Bathing at The Lincoln Center: Kronos Quartet at 40
Victor Jeffreys II · 07/25/13 11:05AM
The Lincoln Center's Out of Doors series opened its five day celebration of the Kronos Quartet's 40th anniversary yesterday afternoon with the Mark Dendy Dance & Theater Projects company bathing in the Paul Milstein Pool. If you are interested in seeing dancers in wet white costumes, be at the Hearst Plaza tonight at 6 P.M. If you are lucky, the bottle-collecting homeless woman will be in attendance again tonight with an encore performance of her 'death.' Details on other free performances at The Lincoln Center are here.

Every summer Sunday, Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter host Mister Sunday, one of the best daytime dance parties in New York City. Held beside Brooklyn's filthiest body of water, the Gowanus Canal provides a surprisingly beautiful backdrop for an afternoon full of sangria, picnic tables, artisanal burgers, ping pong and dancing.
NSFW: The Delivery Man Has the Smallest Penis In Brooklyn
Victor Jeffreys II · 07/22/13 08:44AM
Saturday afternoon, King County Bar in Brooklyn hosted the first annual Smallest Penis in Brooklyn Pageant. Six contestants, only five of which made it to the final round (contestant number 6, a tourist from France, got debilitatingly inebriated with his wife and had to bow out), participated in 3 rounds of intense competition for the prized designation and $200. (This is NOT SAFE FOR WORK. Repeat, there are penises in the vicinity and this post is not safe for work.)
